Fire Protection Designer
Job Description Summary: Responsibilities include producing accurate and effective construction plans for the purpose of generating material deliveries and guiding field installation of fire sprinkler systems for commercial facilities. The results-driven candidate must be able to coordinate numerous fire protection projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a high degree of responsibility and accountability. Time management skills, dedication to accuracy and relentless follow-through are critical for success.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Plan and lay out fire sprinkler systems using architectural drawings to develop fire sprinkler drawings and calculations including:
o Submittals
o O&M
o As builds
- Meet with project technicians and perform site visits as necessary.
- Represent the company professionally; interact dynamically with customers and architects.
- Manage all changes to system design and offer thought-provoking resolutions to design challenges.
Job Knowledge and Skills
- Estimating Experience and NICET Certification a plus but not required.
- A Bachelor’s or Associate degree plus 2 years of experience preferred or combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of NFPA, IBC, and Wisconsin Life Safety Comm codes.
- Proficiency in HydraCAD and AutoCAD desired.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to direct and support team in the field in person or remotely
- Must work well as an individual and/or in a team environment
- Self-motivated and leadership qualities are a plus.
