Fire Protection Designer

Job Description Summary: Responsibilities include producing accurate and effective construction plans for the purpose of generating material deliveries and guiding field installation of fire sprinkler systems for commercial facilities. The results-driven candidate must be able to coordinate numerous fire protection projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a high degree of responsibility and accountability. Time management skills, dedication to accuracy and relentless follow-through are critical for success.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and lay out fire sprinkler systems using architectural drawings to develop fire sprinkler drawings and calculations including:

o   Submittals

o   O&M

o   As builds

  • Meet with project technicians and perform site visits as necessary.
  • Represent the company professionally; interact dynamically with customers and architects.
  • Manage all changes to system design and offer thought-provoking resolutions to design challenges.

 

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Estimating Experience and NICET Certification a plus but not required.
  • A Bachelor’s or Associate degree plus 2 years of experience preferred or combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, IBC, and Wisconsin Life Safety Comm codes.
  • Proficiency in HydraCAD and AutoCAD desired.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to direct and support team in the field in person or remotely
  • Must work well as an individual and/or in a team environment
  • Self-motivated and leadership qualities are a plus.
